Start Building Your Food Web

Click any organism in the library to add it here, or load an example chain.

🌱 Start with Producers (plants)
🐾 Add Consumers (animals)
🔗 Use Connect to draw arrows
⬇️ Download your food web as a PNG

📚 How to Use

  1. Add organisms — click any organism card in the library panel to place it on the canvas.
  2. Move organisms — drag any organism card to reposition it on the canvas.
  3. Connect organisms — click Connect Organisms, then click the prey first, then the predator. The arrow shows energy flow (from prey → predator).
  4. Delete a connection — hover over an arrow and click the red × button.
  5. Download — save your food web as a PNG image with the Ocoviz watermark.

🌿 Food Chain Science Notes

Energy Flow

Energy flows one way through a food chain: Sun → Producers → Consumers. Only about 10% of energy transfers to the next level.

Trophic Levels

Each step is called a trophic level. Level 1 = Producers. Level 2 = Primary consumers. Level 3 = Secondary consumers, and so on.

Food Web vs Chain

A food chain is a single path. A food web shows all the interconnected chains in an ecosystem — more realistic!

Decomposers' Role

Decomposers break down dead organisms, returning nutrients to the soil. Without them, ecosystems would be buried in dead matter.
